  • The Stanolind Name

    After serving as a very active exploration company in the Permian Basin throughout the first half of the twentieth century, Stanolind merged into Pan American in the 1950â€ēs, which then became Amoco through merger. Amoco allowed the Stanolind name to be released in 1986. We purchased the name in 2004 and have operated under it since that time.


    1870

    John D. Rockefeller forms Standard Oil, an American oil production, transportation, refining and marketing company.

    1889

    Rockefeller forms the Standard Oil Trust, of which, Standard Oil of Indiana is a participating company.

    1911

    The United States Supreme Court dissolves the Standard Oil Trust and the Standard Oil Company of Indiana begins operating marketing and refining activities throughout the Midwestern United States.

    1931

    Standard Oil Company of Indiana creates an exploration and production business called Stanolind. Stanolind actively explores the Permian Basin throughout the first half of the twentieth century.

    1950's

    Stanolind merges into Pan American which eventually becomes Amoco through merger.

    1986

    Amoco, no longer operating under Stanolind, allows the Stanolind name to be released.

    2004

    Our team purchases the Stanolind name, carrying forward to a new generation of American oil production, an important namesake in US oil production history.
